Below are the four basic types of leaf protection as well as pricing guidelines for each type. Price includes material and installation.

Gutter Screens

  • Budget friendly
  • High-Volume water flow
  • Compatible with most gutters and roof types

  • Not effective against smaller types of debris
  • Smaller sections means more seams
  • Requires more maintenance than other types of leaf protection

$6 – $7 per foot

For budget conscious consumers, gutter screens are a great way to limit maintenance, and to keep gutters functional between cleanings. Although gutter screens allow for high-volume water flow, they are not effective against smaller debris such as Pine Needles and Maple Seeds. Gutter screens will require more maintenance than all other leaf protection types.

Perforated Cover

GutterMaid’s Choice

  • Effective against smaller types of debris
  • Low visibility from the ground
  • Longer sections means less seams
  • Compatible with most gutters and roof types

  • Somewhat restrictive to water flow
  • Because they lay flat, debris can accumulate on top of the system

$10 – $12 per foot

We recommend perforated covers to Homeowners looking for an effective solution at a reasonable price. Perforated covers are great for keeping out smaller debris, and are also not as restrictive to water flow as some of the other types of leaf protection systems. For these reasons, we recommend perforated covers more than any other type of leaf protection.

Gutter Filters

  • Effective against smaller types of debris
  • Low maintenance
  • Compatible with most gutters and roof types

  • Somewhat restrictive to water flow
  • Smaller sections means more seams
  • Debris compost can clog fine mesh
  • Not recommended for half round gutters

$12 – $14 per foot

Gutter filters provide excellent protection against even the smallest types of debris. However, they are generally not as rigid as some of the other leaf protection types, meaning they are more susceptible to damage from snow accumulation and impact damage. In addition, the fine mesh can become easily clogged if accumulated debris is not removed from the top of the system.

Solid Cover

  • Effective against smaller types of debris
  • Low maintenance

  • Very restrictive to water flow
  • Highly visible from the ground
  • Not compatible with all roof types
  • Most expensive

$14 – $16 per foot

Solid gutter covers can be a very effective form of leaf protection. It works by using surface tension to direct water into the gutter, while preventing leaves twigs and other debris from entering. Because of its design, it is not compatible with all roof and gutter types. It is also very restrictive to water flow, and has the highest installation price of all leaf protection types. For these reasons, we very rarely recommend solid gutter covers.

We offer a 10 year no-clog guarantee on select leaf protection systems (perforated covers, and gutter filters). This guarantees against debris accumulating inside of your gutters, underneath the leaf protection system, to the point where your gutters can no longer effectively manage rainwater runoff during a rain-event, and water overflows your gutters. In the event that the inside of your gutters accumulates enough debris to interrupt water-flow during a rain event, and your gutters overflow, we will clear the affected areas at no cost to the Homeowner.

10 Year Workmanship Warranty: We guarantee that your leaf protection system has been installed per manufacturer’s guidelines. If your system fails within 10 years of installation, we will repair/replace affected areas of your leaf protection system as needed, as well as clean affected areas of your gutter system, at no cost to the Homeowner.

Manufacturer’s Warranty Certain manufacturers may offer additional warranties for their products. If they require registration of their product, you will need to register with them directly. Any claims against their warranty, will need to go through the manufacturer directly.

Gutter Cleaning YES, YOUR GUTTERS WILL STILL NEED TO BE CLEANED. It’s not likely that debris will accumulate inside of your gutters with either perforated covers, or gutter filters. However, as with ALL leaf protection systems, it is common for debris to accumulate on top of the leaf protection system. This accumulation of debris is normal, and should be removed as needed at the Homeowners expense. An accumulation of debris on top of the leaf protection system can interfere with the flow of water during a rain event, and impede water from entering into the gutters as intended. You may notice that water overshoots or skips over the gutter system. If there is visible debris on top of your leaf protection system, it will need to be removed BEFORE a warranty claim can be made. It is to be expected that some small debris such as shingle grit, may still enter into your gutter system. This debris is completely normal, and should not interfere with water-flow. Our 10 year no-clog guarantee does not cover against a normal accumulation of small debris, as long as it does not impede the flow of water to the point of gutter overflow. Gutter cleaning maintenance will vary based on The type of leaf protection installed on your home, the pitch of your roof, roof type, type of trees around your property, and the proximity of the trees to your home. It’s up to the Homeowner to monitor their gutters performance, and schedule maintenance as needed. We highly recommend a regular gutter cleaning schedule.
